BLiNQ Networks Launches X-100
Nov 15, 2012 -
BLiNQ Networks Inc., a pioneer in small cell wireless backhaul solutions, has introduced a small cell backhaul solution for mobile networks.
The newly launched X-100 is the first product in BLiNQ’s Small Cell Backhaul Suite of solutions.
Officials with BLiNQ Networks said the X-100 is a rapidly scalable self-organizing system that eliminates capacity hotspots.

Sep 12, 2012 -
Ever wondered how non-line-of-sight (NLOS) backhaul really works? And how NLOS backhaul is different from Line-of-Sight (LOS) backhaul? I will explain the difference here and highlight some key issues that make a very big difference in the performance of NLOS systems.

Why it’s Fierce: BLiNQ Networks hopes to ride the small cell wave by helping to solve one of the most challenging elements in a small cell deployment: backhaul. The company’s technology promises to support self-optimizing HetNets (heterogeneous networks) by using non-line-of-sight wireless backhaul that doesn’t cause interference and is easy to deploy.

One of the largest hurdles to deploy outdoor small cells is the total cost of ownership of the entire solution of which backhaul comprises a large part. Hence, cost-effective backhaul is one of the main prerequisites for small cell deployments.

One of the great challenges in wireless networks today is figuring out the most effective solution to backhaul small cell base stations. Solving this challenge will surely require much ingenuity specifically because any solution must meet very low cost constraints. If we can’t solve the cost challenge, hetnets will not get much traction. In other words, when we speak about hetnets, performance is not the constraint as it is in macro-cells; rather, it is cost that’s the limiting factor. This is why I see non-line-of-sight backhaul as the solution to the hetnet cost problem.
